MARCUS
Google's internal MARCUS team are brilliant problem-solvers for complex data center issues, but they were seen as a bit of a black box. My mission was to overhaul their communications brand to be more open and accessible.
I developed the new visual identity through hands-on art direction, illustration, and storyboarding. A centerpiece of this effort was an animated video I art-directed; I created a unique illustration style and narrative that finally told the story of their process in a clear and engaging way. This new visual language was then applied across all their communications, blending the familiar Google aesthetic with a style that celebrated the group's hardcore engineering focus.
The result? MARCUS was no longer a mysterious acronym. Engagement soared because people finally got what they did and, more importantly, how this brilliant team could help them.
